Tuesday night, the girls' soccer team looked to bounce back from their 3rd loss of the season as they ventured down 92 to take on Excelsior Springs in a conference matchup. Both teams had tired legs after playing a physical and emotionally tough game the night before. JV started the night off and finished the Tigers off with about 10 minutes left in the second half. JV score was 9-1. Hattie Reiter led the attack with 4 goals and 1 assist. Kailyn Sharp continued to play well and had 2 goals and 1 assist. Kate Stumpenhause and Sadie Stuart each had a goal and 2 assists. Kennedi Casey had a goal and an assist. Caroline Bundy and Averie Bomar each had an assist as well. The JV did a much better job of finishing and pushed their record to 10-2. Varsity followed the JV and started slowly, unable to capitalize on chances in the first 10 minutes. After a great save by goalie Mallyrie Schwab-Wetzel on a 1-on-1 attempt by the Excelsior forward, Josie Sparks found Isla Downing, who slipped the ball past their goalie. Josie Sparks then pushed the lead to 3-0 when Hattie and Fischer found her behind the defense. Josie had back-to-back goals to push her season total up to 26. Fischer then hit one from distance that found the back of the net after Zoey Fredlund found her open at the top of the box to make the halftime lead 4-0. Girls had a lot of chances to score, but hit the post a few times, and their goalie made some good saves. The second half saw us continue to pressure their goal. Addi Smith found the back of the net after a good pass from Josie to make it 5-0. After Mallyrie left the field with a foot injury, Excelsior was able to capitalize on her absence and score on a free kick to make it 5-1. Fischer ended her night with about 5 minutes left with a goal when she saw the goalie out too far and put one in from about 35-40 yards out to end the scoring on the night. Varsity walked away with a 6-1 win. This pushes Varsity's record to 16-3 on the season. We now have 4 girls (Addi Smith, Fischer, Josie, and Zoey) with a double-double, which means they have double-digit goals and assists. This is hard to do, so congratulate them if you see them. Come see the girls play Grandview tonight and see us honor our great senior players (Addi Fischer, Charlie Dollar, Josie Sparks, Tatum Gregory, Lily Rinehart, and Kennedi Casey) and senior manager Aubri Powell. JV starts at 5, and senior night will start around 6-6:15. We will celebrate them afterward with an Ice Cream Sundae bar. Hope to see you there. The Guys Tennis team finished the season strong. After a 0-9 loss to Grain Valley on 4/27, the Bulldogs were determined to end the regular season with a win. The team did just that, beating Winnetonka 6-0 at home on 4/28. This win earned the team the title of Conference Champions! Friday (5/1): The varsity team traveled to Platte County to compete in the individual team district tournament. The athletes played some of their best tennis, leaving it all out on the courts. Singles: Cameron Daniel won his first match vs Lincoln Prep (6-2) (6-2), fell to St. Pius (4-6)(2-6), and ended the tournament placing 4th. Noah Whitehead, after a grueling almost 2 hour first match that ended in a tie break, won vs Lincoln College Prep (3-6) (6-1) (10-8), then ran into the number one seed falling to St. Pius (0-6) (0-6). Doubles: Jack Goodman and Kieren Minnich started the day strong winning their first match against East KC (6-1) (6-0), they took that momentum into their second match vs St. Pius and played some of their best tennis. Unfortunately, they fell just short of the win (5-7) (4-6). Connor Ethen and Tristin Klein had a tough match to start the day vs William Chrisman. They left it all out on the courts, but fell (0-6) (2-6). Monday 5/4 The Bulldogs traveled to William Chrisman to kick off the team district tournament. After getting a slow start to doubles, the team came back strong in singles ending with four separate tiebreaks. Unfortunately, some of those tie breaks did not land in the Bulldogs favor. The match ended 2-7, ending the 2026 tennis season. Match Scores: Cameron Daniel (6-3) (6-2) W Jack Goodman (6-3) (4-6) (8-10 Tiebreak) L Noah Whitehead (1-6) (6-2) (8-10 Tiebreak) L Conner Ethen (3-6) (0-6) L Carter Walker (3-6) (6-4) (7-10 Tiebreak) L Tristin Klein (3-6) (6-0) (10-5 Tiebreak) W Cameron Daniel/Noah Whitehead 3-8 L Jack Goodman/Kieren Minnich 1-8 L Connor Ethen/Tristin Klein 2-8 L

Last evening our Varsity and Junior Varsity teams made the trip to Raytown South High School to compete in the conference track meet. Both squads put in a valiant effort in our first "championship season" meet. They both came in 2nd place in their attempt to win the meet. We had many athletes perform season best or personal best efforts with a few surprise places that exceeded expectations. The coaching staff and myself are extremely proud of these teams, the senior leadership and the quick growth our numerous young ladies have shown up to this point of the season. I look forward to the upcoming meets we have and continued improvements they will have.
